Bristol magistrates court heard the term was used to accuse someone of betraying their heritage by pandering to white opinion, just as a coconut was brown on the outside but white in the middle.

She was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £620 in costs. The chairman of the bench, Simon Cooper, told her the remark had been "purely gratuitous" and could have stimulated racial hatred.

"You made a mistake for which you have to accept responsibility," he added. "It is a sad case."

Brown's remark came as she argued against a Conservative attempt in February 2009 to cut funds to the council's Legacy Commission, established in 2008, the year after the bicentenary of the abolition of the slave trade in the British empire.

Of course, had a white man called the Councillor who has been in prosecuted a sooty, coon, wog or darkie, you can bet they would right now been rotting in a prison cell, career and like in tatters. 

Councillor Jethwa's great error was to suggest cuts to the feather bedding and make work schemes of the communists. She further -in ignorance or not - challenged the necessity  of another self flagellation session over the past historyof White wealthy power elites, paid for and watched by the white working class.  

In the seventies, when I was a child, the "Black Soilidarity Movement" represented all those who were not Caucasian, did it with panache (google Toxteth Riot, Brixton Riot etc). 

This is a first glimmer that ther "solidarity" is beginning to break down.

Of the millions of immigrants who have come to Britain, who still complains and whines about racism? If  you go into the council offices, who still appears to be there to "fill the (State created and enforced) ethnic mix"?

There are only two groups - Afro Carribeans, and Moslems. Everyone else seems, for good or bad, to have merely subsumed into the great stew of life. Perhaps the majority - Sikhs, Hindus, Nepalese, Poles etc are just too busy working and living, building for the future, enjoying the park, watching movies, buying Mars bars.
